Topic:

USGS San Diego Hydrology Project Update

Abstract:

Since 2001, the USGS San Diego Hydrology project has collected millions of surface-water, groundwater, and water-quality data in the San Diego area. These data can be displayed and downloadable from a project website, which will be described to the SDEP audience. Suggestions for ongoing website revisions will be solicited to enhance use by agencies and consultants. Analysis of the data has developed new concepts of water resources in the San Diego area, which extends from the Wild Animal Park in the North, to Rosarita Beach in the south, from the top of the Penisular Mountains in the east, to the offshore Coronado Trench in the west. The purpose of the project is to better understand local water resources and quantify new water supplies, in particular brackish groundwater along the San Diego coast. Of particular interest is mapping fresh groundwater in the continental shelf under San Diego Bay.

Cost:

$30 for members, $35 for non-members, add $5 if reservation is not received by 5pm the Friday before. Online registration will end at noon on the Monday before the event. Walk-ins with no reservation will be charged an extra $10 and be asked to wait until those with reservations are seated.

Please note that confirmed reservations will be invoiced regardless of attendance.
